Case Study
Mamoosh Bakery and Deli
Website Brief
When we first started working with Mamoosh Bakery, their WooCommerce site was unfinished and restricting business growth. Founder Einat Chalmers was keen to grow her artisan pitta business and deli, so we designed and built a new e-commerce shop on Shopify for direct sales, local click-and-collect, and wholesale orders.
Mamoosh has expanded rapidly in the past three years with the recent addition of Mamoosh Riverside, a new deli, café and takeaway on the riverbank at Newhaven. Artisan Pitta orders are dispatched across the UK through the website and delivered to wholesale to a wide range of stockists in Sussex, and restaurants, pubs and food outlets across the UK.
The Mamoosh brand evokes a strong Middle Eastern culture which we support across social media and content creation.
Designed to meet demanding customer needs
With Mamoosh’s unique artisan products, we were keen to create an eye-catching website with great imagery that was fast, accessible, and easy to use. The website required integrations, a stockists’ page, a custom cart, a UK and Sussex delivery option, and a local click-and-collect service. A blog section was required, and we built in flexibility to repurpose, add, and remove sections as the business model was expected to evolve rapidly.
As with every web build, we optimised our design elements and the site’s performance to deliver a truly powerful e-commerce experience.
Benefits of a Shopify Store
Mamoosh is a family business employing over 12 full-time staff members. The company was ideally looking for an e-commerce solution that it could manage in-house if necessary but with professional developers quickly available to make changes when required.
Plenty of space is given to product images of delicious, light, and fluffy pitta bread, enforcing the product's cultural heritage and the artisan skills required for production. The pages are visually appealing, and the buying experience is simple and quick.
Strong branding remains a dominant feature across the online store, the bakery, and Mamoosh Riverside.
Over the last three years, the online store has undergone significant changes. The Click-and-Collect integration is no longer required, and sales have expanded rapidly to all corners of the UK.
Web development
The store was constructed using Shopify 2.0, which has given developers more customisation and the option to craft better customer experiences. Business owners can manage their content more easily with better checkout experiences and more built-in functionalities.
