My final thoughts as my apprenticeship comes to a close at Fine Marketing
Stop press: I've officially passed my apprenticeship with a Distinction!
It's officially less than a month until I finish my time as a marketing apprentice for Fine Marketing UK. This opportunity has given me so much insight into the marketing sphere and I have felt supported tremendously during my time here. Let's discuss how I found the experience and my plans for the future as a Multi-channel Marketer.
Facing workplace obstacles can be a blessing in disguise
I started as a marketing apprentice at another company in March 2024. Although I had gained invaluable information and had opportunities to showcase my work for real world companies and events, I was unfortunately made redundant in January 2025 without warning.
As an apprentice needs to have had 18 months minimum workplace experience, this put my apprenticeship into jeopardy. I had quit a high paying office job to pursue marketing and this felt like a kick in the teeth to what I had sacrificed to gain this experience.
Fortunately, Julia was contacted regarding my situation and kindly offered to help me continue my apprenticeship at Fine Marketing. I started in February 2025 and used my previous knowledge with brand new clients and platforms (WordPress for example wasn't at the forefront at my previous role!). This was a blessing in disguise as I started to work in a much more marketing focused position in a better working environment.
Sometimes, you will face challenges in the workplace - but if the role wasn't right for you, then it's always the best thing for unlucky things to happen to you. I am incredibly appreciative to Julia for giving me the opportunity to get my qualification.
What I've learned
Throughout my time at Fine Marketing, I've never had nothing to do. There are always new clients, proposals, websites and social media accounts to browse through and create new strategies and designs for. My absolute favourite thing to do is redesign logos, colour schemes and brand identities for new clients - seeing a brand that has the potential to grow into something much, much bigger (and having my input be heard on this) is such an exciting and fun thing for me to work on. I absolutely adore design and creating assets for websites, logos etc is never dull.
I've learned to handle multiple businesses at once, strategise social media content, create video and website content, use SEO and Google Ads, write blog posts and more. Being trusted to work on such important, key things for a company's brand and website is an incredible privilege. I also got to attend Wealden Business Expo 2025 and see how other marketing companies branded themselves - I even got to design Fine Marketing's new banners which were used at the event!
My hopes and plans for the future
Now that I'm approaching the end of my apprenticeship journey, I need to consider my future plans as a Multi-Channel Marketer. My ideal scenario is to join another marketing company and showcase the work I can do for them. Being a part of a team and having a fun but professional working environment would really make me feel as if my apprenticeship contributed to having a real world impact for my career.
It's always a big risk to upscale your life and job for an apprenticeship (where you get less than a living wage and have no guarantee of a permanent contract afterwards) but gaining this experience, I'd say it was definitely worth it.
